Call for applications: Reinforcement Learning Study Group

The Alan Turing Institute Data Study Groups are proud to introduce the first methodological themed event, an adaptation of the Data Study Group model, taking place in February 2021.

The Reinforcement Learning Study Group invites participants to tackle a single reinforcement challenge provided by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).  Researchers will brainstorm and engineer data science solutions, presenting their work at the end of the event.

Please note that due to COVID-19, the Reinforcement Learning Study Group will be run remotely over three weeks.

For full details of this format, including the time commitment involved, please read our event page carefully.

Challenge

This Reinforcement Learning Study Group will look at how to apply reinforcement learning solutions to a virtualised game environment.  For detailed information about the challenge including background, purpose, benefits and useful skills please visit our website

How to apply

Applications are now open. Applications must be submitted via Flexi-Grant. If you have not done so already, you will need to create a basic Flexi-Grant account. It is quick and free to register. The Alan Turing Institute recognises the under-representation that exists within data science. We are committed to increasing the representation of female, black and minority ethnic, LGBTQ+, disabled and neurodiverse researchers in data science and especially welcome these applications. We believe the best solutions to challenges result when a diverse team work together to share and benefit from the different facets of their experience.
