Bayes Centre event: DDE Venture Builder Incubator 2.0 Demo Day

About this event

Watch pitches from the inspirational start-ups that have taken part in our data-driven Incubator. Vote for your favourite - the winners receive prizes - and meet the teams afterwards.

This year's programme has supported 20 start-ups to explore and validate the commercial potential of original, academic research. Some companies are focused on addressing major challenges including the climate emergency, health and wellbeing, children's mental health and financial security, others are using data-driven technology to transform how science is taught and how scientists work. The cohort also includes 8 start-ups sponsored by Cancer Research UK who are using data to deliver better diagnosis and treatment options for cancer patients.

The DDE Venture Builder Incubator - hosted online by the University of Edinburgh's world-leading Bayes Centre and delivered by the Data-Driven Entrepreneurship Programme as part of a cross DDI hub collaboration - was launched last year to support the creation of researcher-founded businesses. Through a tailored programme of interactive online workshops and events researchers become founders who are encouraged to connect their data-driven ideas to the world and to explore investment opportunities.

The Venture Builder Incubator has been financed by the Scottish Funding Council through Data-Driven Innovation (DDI), Cancer Research UK and Heriot-Watt University, with support from Nile and powered by Edventure as part of the Data-Driven Entrepreneurship Beacon Programme.

The event is free to attend.
