[10/10/23] Partner event - Graphical Languages for Quantum Computation About the event Marc de Visme will give a talk, in person and online, for the Coffee House Tech Talk Series. Abstract: In this talk, we will go through the basics of graphical languages for quantum computation, their advantages and uses, and the two main traditions of such languages: (1) Tensorial languages, such as quantum circuits and the ZX-calculus, in which computations relying on quantum entanglement are easy to represent. (2) Additive languages, such as graphical linear optic and the LOv-calculus, in which computations relying on quantum control are easy to represent. Then we will explore some recent attempts at unifying both traditions, and the advantages and disadvantages of the various methods. Speaker Bio: Marc de Visme is a permanent researcher employed bythe INRIA, France’s national institute of research in computer science, since late 2021. He works for the Formal Method Laboratory (LMF) of the University of Paris-Saclay, as part of the Quantum Calculus and Structures team (QuaCS).
