About Us 

I grew up in a small fishing town in Sri Lanka and studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, a state funded university in Sri Lanka. My undergraduate programme focussed on power systems engineering, circuit design, and communications systems and less so on computer science and programming.
 
I used to work as a freelance translator while an undergrad, translating between English and Tamil. My interest in Artificial Intelligence really began in 2017, when Google released their first neural network-based English to Tamil translation system. The step improvement from the older (statistical) system convinced me that the technology is going to be transformative. I was fortunate to be admitted to the School of Informatics’ MSc Artificial Intelligence programme, where I got to focus on NLP.
 
Between my undergraduate degree and masters, I worked on a hardware startup which convinced me that I should never work on hardware again. I love to cook and should probably not read Sri Lanka's breaking news as often as I do.

Problem

The bulk of litigation (> 90%) in South Asia happens in native languages but not a single existing case law search engine in the market support vernacular search. 

Solution

A multilingual case law search engine for South Asia, leveraging recent advances in Indic NLP, multilingual information retrieval, and large language models.

Market

There are roughly 1.7 Mn lawyers in South Asia, 90% of whom practice law in their native language. As such the TAM is 1.7 Mn * 90% = 1.53 Mn lawyers. Capturing 5% of this market at a £10 per month subscription yields an annual revenue of £9 Mn.
