About Us

Balint has a strong background in robotics and embedded systems complemented by a PhD in surgical robotics and 8 years of industrial experience in Embedded Systems. His strength lies in transforming research concepts into actual products.Mohsen is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow and Reader in Robotics at the School ofInformatics, University of Edinburgh, having joined the institution in 2018. His research focuses on surgical robotics and image-guided therapies, beginning with clinical problems and collaborating with surgeons to find optimal devices and theoretical approaches.

Problem

Due to the lack of navigational tools, conventional bronchoscopy lacks reproducibility and requires expert operators. The lack of repeatable access to regional segments of the lung has limited the development of experimental medicine where pathogen-specific and immunological therapies cannot be delivered directly and repeatedly to specific lung regions.

Solution

Our proposed navigational bronchoscopy system employs a cutting-edge continuum robot enhanced by image feedback for advanced control, facilitating precise and consistent bronchoscopy procedures. Our system's navigation algorithm aims to generate a 3D lung map in real-time automatically enabling the system to reach specific targets inside the lung repeatably and reliably for experimental medicine.

Market

Pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, and healthcare providers.
