About Us

I am Walid Magdy, Reader at the School of Informatics, an expert in AI and particularly Natural Language Processing, with specific focus on under-served languages, such as Arabic. I have large industrial expertise from working previously for IBM, Microsoft, and consulting for multiple companies, such as Huawei. I am currently the CTO of Alsun.ai that focuses on conversational AI for under-served languages. The CEO is Mohamed Baddar and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in business. 

Problem

According to Deliotte report in 2023, 80% of contact centres globally deploy some stage of AI, while 17% fully deploy AI-agents with speech/chat capabilities. However, there is a large skew towards English language. Thus, we identify the following clear gaps, hence opportunities:
 
1. Less attention towards many languages with large population
2. Existing tech fails with other languages due to scarce recourses
3. Big-tech don’t host their models on-prem, which is an issue for domains, e.g Banking

Our customers are any business with contact centres receiving large numbers of calls, such as banking, telecom, and healthcare. We focus on market of under-served language with initial focus on Arabic and domains.
