Problem

Electricity distributors want to improve visibility of their network. More detailed information is needed to improve the quality of their service, reduce cost and meet the challenges created by Distributed Energy Resources (DER) such as solar panels (PV) and electric vehicles (EV). As electricity systems become more decentralised, Low Voltage (LV) network insights will allow electricity distributors to manage DER impacts, connect and orchestrate them more cost efficient.In Europe, most electricity distributors monitor the electric load on the network only down to the medium voltage feeder level. Most of the problems happen at LV feeder and customer level, e.g. est. energy theft for UK GBP 400 m, illegal cannabis farming in NL EUR 200m.

Solution

NetEN has developed a patented low voltage (LV) IoT-sensor that monitors different variables of the electricity load, like voltage, intensity, harmonics, etc. The device streams data in real-time from the substations (feeders) to the cloud. The Artificial Intelligence-powered cloud platform performs signal analysis, looking for anomalies through pattern recognition. The electricity distributor is given insight in the state of the LV network and gets an alert if anomalies occur.On top of this NetEN developed algorithms to detect and explain anomalies, like: electricity theft, electricity fraud, illegal cannabis farming and more.

One of the most persistent challenges faced by food producers, is a lack of access to market when it’s needed most, and the UN have advised that climate change will only exacerbate that problem.Global Trade is inaccessible for most of the world’s food growers, this is because trading fees are far too expensive – agricultural commodity trading fees amount to half a billion per day! Using coffee as an example, a single trade can cost $5 in fees – unaffordable for the smallholder coffee farmers who make up 80% of the world’s coffee growers.Buyers also lack the trust which is implicit with formal trading houses. In the digital age, we spent countless hours consuming content, but often, we fail to make use of what we learned when we need it, simply because we forget. Picojar is more than a digital notebook, it comes with an AI-powered workflow that reduces the cognitive effort required to turn external information into your internal knowledge every step of the way. The creator, Siwei, previously an Engineering Manager at Skyscanner and Amazon, has pivoted her business from a travel-focused app to a general-purpose tool, aiming to help everyone effectively manage their information, and therefore improve their attention and unleash their creativity.

Problem

In today’s world, the sheer amount of information we encounter daily has grown well above our mental capacity. We’re frustrated with not being able to retain and make use of the information we consumed - on average we forget 70% of what we learned in a month. People have experimented with various Notes apps or note-taking methodologies in hopes of improving personal productivity but often find it hard to stick to. In general, there are a few mental blocks preventing people from adopting a note-taking habit:1. Consuming content while taking notes requires constant shift in attention.
