Meet RemonData. Image We’re aiming to become the first scouting platform focusing on women’s football only, with no bias from the men’s game. The technical background we have is rare in football analytics as most analysts come from a sports background, which limits the complexity of their analysis. The Team Niamh Graham Maia Trower Yasmin Hengster Natasha Cottrell About Us We are 3 mathematics PhD students at the University of Edinburgh and 1 industrial data science University of Edinburgh alumna. We are keen social footballers, having started a five-a-side women’s team together. We are hugely interested in women's sport, and how we can help it reach the audiences and performance level it deserves - and aim to use our enthusiasm, drive and open-mindedness to achieve this. Problem Men’s and women’s football are different on both a strategic and tactical level - from player physiology and injury to league structure - and currently there is not a leader in women’s football analytics. Conversely, men’s football analytics is ever-growing and hugely profitable, and models/insights from men’s football are (potentially inappropriately) applied to women's game. Are key analyses and gains being missed because of this approach? Solution We’re aiming to become the first scouting platform focusing on women’s football only, with no bias from the men’s game. The technical background we have is rare in football analytics as most analysts come from a sports background, which limits the complexity of their analysis. Market The platform would be a space for managers, coaches and agents of women players to scout for new talent in their team or promote their players using tailored and detailed analytics.
