Meet Sea Sat. We are at the forefront of cutting-edge machine learning technology, combined with satellite remote sensed data, to revolutionise the monitoring and management of marine environments. Our pioneering ML algorithm is designed to empower governments and businesses in the aquaculture and environmental sectors, offering them effective tools for marine resource monitoring and protection. By classifying water types, estimating salinity and temperature, and predicting potential threats like marine heatwaves, we offer a comprehensive solution to address the lack of temporal data in marine environments. Our driving force is the preservation of our oceans and the promotion of marine resurce sustainability. The Team Image Solomon White About Me I hold a Masters in General Engineering and machine learning from Oxford University. My passion lies in applying this background to environmental issues, which is what led me to pursue my PhD research - using a fusion of satellite data and geoscience to protect our oceans. I am extremely driven and motivated - I am currently managing my fulltime PhD with a live in volunteering role for a youth homeless program and training for a 70.3 Ironman. I believe in fully dedicating myself to goals that align with my values and affect the world in a positive way. Problem Lack of quantifiable temporal data of marine environments, and the high cost of data production. Fisheries and governments lack easy solutions for monitoring fish stocks and marine environments, especially in coastal areas where significant changes and biological activity occur. Solution A Machine Learning algorithm that leverages satellite remote sensing data to classify water types, estimate salinity and temperature, and predict heatwaves and extreme events that could threaten marine stocks, including delicate ecosystems such as Kelp forests. This algorithm would provide accessible, real-time data models of water conditions, revolutionising environmental monitoring and conservation efforts. Market The potential market includes government agencies responsible for marine resource management, aquaculture businesses, including fisheries, seaweed farms, and shellfish farms, as well as organisations committed to ocean conservation and sustainability.
