Problem

Seagrass meadows are some of the most endangered ecosystems on Earth; in the last century 92% of British seagrass has been lost. They are the ?lungs of the ocean? which occupy 0.2% of the seafloor but store over 10% of organic CO2 in our ocean. ?Current restoration projects utilise large volunteer forces to plant seagrass, but this requires careful organisation, is hugely time consuming, and costs ?200,000 per hectare. Robocean is removing these barriers by streamlining seagrass restoration.

Solution

We are pioneering a new generation of subsea robotics capable of engineering entire ecosystems at the touch of a button. We can plant seagrass 30 times faster and at a fraction of the cost of current methods. We can sell cost-effective and impactful seagrass restoration at scale.

Market

Our technology is the first to enter commercial markets, and it allows anyone to enact environmental change. We will sell restoration services to governmental, commercial, and environmental bodies. We will work with local restoration bodies to understand the needs of every coastline and maximise our environmental impact. Our business model is supported by WWF, Sky, and Carlsberg who have committed to seagrass restoration. The global range of seagrass meadows also gives us a wide customer base.
