Programme structure

This postgraduate programme is taught and assessed fully online over 12 months. It consists of 120 taught credits followed by a 60-credit dissertation. 

There are two compulsory courses: Practical Introduction to Data Science and Introductory Probability and Statistics. You are also required to take a programming course (either Introduction to Python Programming for Data Science or Programming Skills) and a project preparation course in advance of starting the dissertation. You can choose from a selection of elective courses to make up the remainder of your taught credits – you have the freedom to create your own pathway from a variety of options.

There are two dissertation courses to choose from - one from the School of Informatics and one from the School of Social and Political Sciences.
