Meet ScensAi.

We're making chemical sensing accessible for any application by making affordable electronic noses with shared intelligence.

The Team

Ammar Elhoweris

Dr Ammar Elhoweris serves as commercial champion, bringing over 10 years of deep-tech innovation experience managing a team of 22 in a leading venture creation hub in the middle east.

Marcus Campbell Bannerman

Dr Marcus Campbell Bannerman leads technical development. He’s an investigator on over £9M of research funding, primarily from commercial partners. It includes four KTPs, including one graded "outstanding" which resulted in a software spin-out.

Problem

Our digital technologies are blind to the chemicals around us. We can detect molecules with our noses that almost all robots, drones and monitoring systems are blind to. Accurate chemical sensing is available, but it is either high cost, has limited detection, and/or needs expert operators and training to use. Electronic noses are nascent technology that offer affordable, accurate and instant measurements, but so far have failed to scale because of a fundamental training problem.

Existing designs must be individually trained to recognise chemical signatures, with no way to transfer that knowledge to other units. This means the same training work must be repeated hundreds or thousands of times over. Every new device, every new location, every replacement unit means starting from scratch. For food quality control, medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring and industrial applications that need chemical sensing across multiple sites, the technology is dismissed before cost is even discussed. It's not that the technology isn't there; it's just that it is fundamentally impractical to scale.

Solution

Our breakthrough is our transferable training technology. Our chemical modelling software allows devices to share training with just a few calibration points from the factory, dropping hardware costs to <£1000 and eliminating months of individual unit setup. Our cloud-based learning platform means that we can continuously train our models to detect new chemicals or applications, and every device in the network gains that capability instantly, creating shared chemical intelligence that grows more powerful with each deployment and application.
