Interpreting Drawings for 3D Design - From Drawing Techniques to Algorithms

About the event

How can rough sketches become powerful engineering tools? Designers rely on drawings to think, explore, and communicate — yet computers still struggle to interpret them. To test ideas in the real world, sketches must be turned into precise 3D models — a process that’s tedious, rigid, and often incompatible with early creativity. In this talk, Dr. Adrien Bousseau, senior researcher at Inria Université Côte d'Azur in the GraphDeco research group, shares how his research bridges this gap.

By leveraging the geometric cues embedded in traditional drawing techniques, his team is developing algorithms that estimate 3D shape directly from sketches — enabling designers to receive real-time, physically grounded feedback during the earliest phases of ideation.

Join Huawei for Interpreting Drawings for 3D Design – From Drawing Techniques to Algorithms and discover how this convergence is reshaping the creative process from the ground up.
