What problem are you trying to solve?

In the aerospace and transport sectors, a significant challenge involves reducing emissions to transition towards sustainable fuels, compounded by the inability to accurately monitor engine health and performance. Early-stage faults in gas turbines often remain undetected across various fuel types and operating conditions, leading to engine failures, costly maintenance, and excessive fuel consumption, which leads to increased environmental impact.

What is your idea?
My vision is to provide a transformative solution through innovations in Laser Absorption Tomography (LAT). Using laser-based imaging similar to a medical CT scan, LAT delivers two-dimensional exhaust temperature maps in real time. It is non-intrusive, millisecond-responsive, and provides spatial coverage that thermocouples cannot. Validated on a commercial gas turbine engine, LAT reduces test time and fuel usage by over 70%.
