We're thrilled to launch our Bayes Scholarship to support new students studying on a course within the online Data Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) programme. This opportunity is designed exclusively for UK-based applicants who are embarking on their first journey into postgraduate-level studies.
DSTI allows you to take a selection of courses from across the University to create a tailored cross-disciplinary programme that perfectly matches your career aspirations. The flexible structure enables you to study while you work, and the Scholarship will fund a 10-credit course of your choice starting in early 2024.
Through this new scholarship we will be fostering talent and providing opportunities for those who are eager to elevate their skills in the dynamic field of data science.
Award
The Scholarship will cover the full tuition fee for a 10-credit course from the DSTI programme starting in January or February 2024. Please see below for the list of eligible courses:

Eligibility
Scholarships are available to UK-based applicants who apply for the Postgraduate Professional Development strand of the Data Science, Technology and Innovation programme. You must currently be living in the UK; you do not need to be a UK national.
Applicants who have already obtained, or are currently studying towards, a postgraduate qualification are ineligible for this scholarship.
Applicants who are fully sponsored by their employer, in receipt of a full scholarship or have already accepted another scholarship from The University of Edinburgh are also ineligible for this scholarship.
Criteria
All scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic or professional merit and the expected impact of the award on the student's career.
Applying
To apply for the Scholarship you must first submit your application to join the PG Professional Development in Data Science, Technology and Innovation (ICL) - 2 Years (Part-time Intermittent Study) programme. Once this is complete please return to this page and fill out the Bayes Scholarship application form. Please follow the link below:
Applications for Semester 2 of 2023/24 will close on 4 January at 5pm GMT.
The form requires you to provide:
- Your name
- Your UUN (which is provided upon confirmation of applying to DSTI)
- Course choice (from the list above)
- Scholarship Impact statement (max 250-300 words demonstrating how your proposed course will address a skills gap and/or impact your future and personal career goals)
- CV: Highlight your achievements and aspirations to date (this will need to be provided separately)
Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by a scholarship panel comprising a number of University staff from DSTI.
Notification
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 10 January 2024.
